However, if you think that shoppers begin stocking up on swimsuits only at the beginning of the hot season, well, think again. It looks like our 12 million monthly users start dreaming of summer as soon as Christmas is over: on Stylight we have reported a consistent growth in clicks for swimwear since the end of Dec 2019. And even during this difficult time, our shoppers are not slowing down from buying swimsuits!

Whether it’s the classic and ever-so-sexy leopard print, or the very 90s pink zebra print, animal print is going to be big in 2020. What’s new? We’re seeing designers like Gucci or Stella McCartney play with these prints, adding colourful backgrounds or big logos to freshen them up. Clicks on this trend grew by the tenfold vs 2019.

While 2019 was the year of neon, 2020 is going towards a softer direction: pastel colours are going to dominate swimwear this summer, with clicks on these romantic shades growing by over >1000% vs 2019.

Bows were already all the rage for 2019 winter party-dresses, and this feminine detail has now transitioned to swimwear for summer 2020. We’ve seen a surge in ribbons, bows or knots as embellishments on straps or to help cinch in waist-lines. Our users seem to love this trend, with over +1000% more clicks on this trend vs 2019.

Ruffles, frills, ruches: this year we’ve seen them on dresses, skirts, shirts, and you bet we’re gonna see it on bikinis and one-pieces too. This trend was already quite popular in 2019, and in 2020 it’s grown further, with +665% more clicks globally.

Re-use is probably the big buzzword of 2020, with celebs re-wearing their gowns to the red carpet, and more millennial brides opting for reusable wedding gowns. So it is possible that this trend is now also reaching swimwear? We’ve seen a +183% increase in clicks on bikini tops that resemble more of an actual top, with either short, long or puffy sleeves.
