The Stylight Swimwear Report

Our data doesn’t lie: These will be the biggest swimwear trends in 2019

Ready to soak in some summer sun? Although spring’s brisk mornings may not suggest it, Stylight shoppers are already planning what to pack in their beach bags for their next summery respite.

So what are our oceanfront optimists looking for? We’ve analyzed keywords, sales data, and the most-visited swimwear pages of our 12 million users for every variation of ‘kinis‘ (bi, tri, monokinis, anyone?) you could imagine. We’ve also snuck a peek or two into their wishlists since the beginning of January (shh!) and can tell you that in 2019, beachgoers are going to be chicer than ever.

Bikini Trends 2019: Logo Mania Swimsuits

Top 3
Logo Mania: Gucci, GCDS, Off-White

A whopping 40% of swimwear searches this spring involved designer logos and emblems. Expect to see loud logo prints invading beaches near you this summer. The top three most-sought-after? Gucci, GCDS, and Off-White.

Bikini Trends 2019: Mono shoulder

+300%
One-shoulder searches

Compared to our numbers from last year, one-shoulder swimwear pieces are growing faster than their potentially awkward tan lines. In the first few months of 2019, we’ve seen a +300% increase in wishlist saves compared to last January. The search peak so far? Mid-February.

Bikini Trends 2019: One Piece

50% vs 65% one-piece suits

Since January, 50% of our users looking for their next summer purchase focused their searches on one-piece swimsuits. This number is actually down compared to last year where 65% of shoppers wanted the extra coverage.

Bikini Trends 2019: Crochet

IntroducingThe Crochet Bikini

Compared to February 2018, searches for bikinis and swimwear with crochet details have increased significantly – by 600%! We would put our money on this swimwear trend being everywhere this summer season.

Bikini Trends 2019: Retro Style

Retro StyleHigh waist styles: +50%

2019 is the year of retro prints, high-waist cuts, and old school feminine silhouettes. Our data team saw a 50% increase in high-waisted swimwear compared to this time last year. Corresponding high-waist searches: Ruches, deep necklines, and rounded edges.

The Attico founder and designer can be seen rocking a major Chanel logo in her holiday pics. Is she foreshadowing 2019’s most-searched-for colours? This year our shoppers are looking for black and dark blue pieces, mustard and nude tones.

So long to scandalous styles

  1. Push-up: Shoppers are finding other ways to enhance their décolleté
  2. Lace bikinis: The lingerie swimwear fad seems to have been put to bed in 2019
  3. Bandeau styles: Searches for bikini bandeaus have cooled down but their one-piece sisters are still holding strong.
