The Stylight Swimwear Report
Ready to soak in some summer sun? Although spring’s brisk mornings may not suggest it, Stylight shoppers are already planning what to pack in their beach bags for their next summery respite.
So what are our oceanfront optimists looking for? We’ve analyzed keywords, sales data, and the most-visited swimwear pages of our 12 million users for every variation of ‘kinis‘ (bi, tri, monokinis, anyone?) you could imagine. We’ve also snuck a peek or two into their wishlists since the beginning of January (shh!) and can tell you that in 2019, beachgoers are going to be chicer than ever.
A whopping 40% of swimwear searches this spring involved designer logos and emblems. Expect to see loud logo prints invading beaches near you this summer. The top three most-sought-after? Gucci, GCDS, and Off-White.
Compared to our numbers from last year, one-shoulder swimwear pieces are growing faster than their potentially awkward tan lines. In the first few months of 2019, we’ve seen a +300% increase in wishlist saves compared to last January. The search peak so far? Mid-February.
Since January, 50% of our users looking for their next summer purchase focused their searches on one-piece swimsuits. This number is actually down compared to last year where 65% of shoppers wanted the extra coverage.
Compared to February 2018, searches for bikinis and swimwear with crochet details have increased significantly – by 600%! We would put our money on this swimwear trend being everywhere this summer season.
2019 is the year of retro prints, high-waist cuts, and old school feminine silhouettes. Our data team saw a 50% increase in high-waisted swimwear compared to this time last year. Corresponding high-waist searches: Ruches, deep necklines, and rounded edges.
First comes Chiara, then comes the world. You saw her rocking the one-shoulder look in her honeymoon photos (Dec. 2018) and ever since, Stylight shoppers have shown a steady increase in searches and clicks.
Blogger Aimee Song has already shown her affection for a 2019 swimwear trend: An itsy bitsy teenie weenie *nude retro-style bikini.*
